Sigma Delta Tau was founded on March 25, 1917 at Cornell University by seven fearless women who wanted something different out of a Greek organization. These young women strived to establish a sorority that would respect the individuality of its members. Personal growth and the social development of each individual became the basis upon which this new organization was built.
The 7 Founders are:
Dora Bloom Turtletaub, Amy Apfel Tishman, Marian Gerber Greenberg, Grace Srenco Grossman, Inez Dane Ross, Regene Freund Cohane, and Lenore Rubnow
